Meetings Show UK requests research to develop targeted education programme

The Meetings show UK has requested that detailed research is made in order to identify topics of interestto key visitor sector and adapt its education program accordingly.

LONDON- The Meetings Show UK has commissioned independent, detailed research into the many different sectors of the meetings industry. The results will combine long term benefits to the industry with the provision of insight and information that will shape The Meetings Show UK’s education programme.

The research will pinpoint the topics of interest to key visitor sectors and ensure the education programme delivers compelling content, specific to these visitor types.

The Meetings Show UK, event director Steve Knight said: “At the inaugural Advisory Board and Education Panel meetings, it became clear an effective education programme should be tailored to the key delegate types, with detailed research providing the backbone of the content. Our decision to base our education content on professionally conducted research from both meeting planners and suppliers is a move which will set our education programme apart from every other show in the sector and is a clear sign we are serious about creating an unrivalled education platform for our industry.”

Knight continues: “Education is a key ingredient in our show and not just an ‘add-on’. This is reflected in the fact we are not holding sessions on the show floor but instead using professional conferencing facilities – the recently refurbished Olympia Conference Centre and The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. The sessions will be timetabled around the key appointment times so they do not conflict with appointments made with exhibitors.”

The research will be undertaken over the next few months and will be fed back to the Advisory Board and Education Panel in early 2013. The Advisory Board and Education Panel members have reacted well to the announcement:

Zibrant, Managing Director and member of The Meetings Show UK’s Advisory Board, Chris Parnham: “Education opportunities are one of the key reasons for attendance at a tradeshow, and therefore it is vital the content is more than just professional and of a high standard. It must also reflect the needs of the attendees, fill gaps in their knowledge and demonstrate that both organisers and speakers are responding to changes in the industry.  This independent research will ensure The Meetings Show UK’s education programme is both relevant and targeted – making it a truly credible experience for all visitors.”

Marketing Edinburgh, Head of Association Sales and member of The Meetings Show UK’s Education Panel, Lesley Williams: “On-going education is vital to the increase of professionalism within the meetings industry.  The more knowledge we gain the more capable we are of delivering high quality events that meet their goals.  This research will allow the organisers of The Meetings Show UK to work with the Education Panel in the delivery of an education programme that responds to the needs of the individual as well as the industry as a whole.”

The Meetings Show UK is the UK’s only hosted buyer led show for the meetings industry and will bring in more than 4,500 visitors, including 1,500 plus hosted buyers from corporates, agencies, associations, charities and the public sector. It’s a show organised by meeting professionals, for meeting professionals.

The Meetings Show UK’s inaugural event will take place during week commencing 8th July, 2013 at Olympia, London.
