CRN member supplies congress systems to UN conference

Congress Rental Emirates, a member of the Congress Rental Network (CRN), recently supplied congress systems to the thirteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIII).

The conference – convened for the first time in an Arab country – was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha. UNCTAD XIII was attended by a host of world leaders and senior ministers of finance and trade. Established in 1964, UNCTAD promotes the development-friendly integration of developing countries into the world economy, and the theme of this year’s conference focused on how the global economy can spread its benefits more inclusively and sustainably, creating jobs and raising living standards for poor people and nations.

UNCTAD XIII saw Congress Rental Emirates in charge of providing equipment for the largest congress system set-ups seen at the Qatar National Convention Centre since it opened last year. The event brought together delegates from 194 countries so more than 4,500 simultaneous interpretation receivers were required during the conference.

Panagiotis Podimatas, CRN chairperson from PC Podimatas in Greece, said: “To provide congress systems on an international level is extremely complex as interpretive services are required in a large number of different languages. Our membership is made up of the world’s best congress system companies who can deliver services to the highest standards and this is why Congress Rental Emirates were chosen to supply equipment for this influential international event.”

CRN is the world’s leading network of congress system suppliers with 42 members across 40 countries around the world. Potential members undergo a strict vetting process in order that high standards are maintained.
