Hertz Oman is for the first time establishing a temporary branch in Salalah to provide comprehensive car rentals during the monsoon season between mid-July and mid-September.
Visitors from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE and other parts of the Gulf flock to Salalah in their hundreds during this period, when the monsoon brings a relief from soaring summer temperatures, and produces a dramatic explosion of greenery, and gushing waterfalls.
With the hills and valleys of Salalah lush from tropical rainfall, 4WD transport is essential for those eager to follow the spectacular monsoon trail, and annual visitors will welcome the latest initiative by National Travel & Tourism, the Hertz franchisee in Oman.
Salalah receives a growing number of visitors from the other Gulf countries during the monsoon season, bringing a much bigger demand for car rental services, and particularly for 4WD vehicles, said a spokesman for Hertz Oman.
We don`t experience sufficient demand year-round to justify establishing a permanent Hertz branch in Salalah, but we`re opening a temporary branch for the coming Kharif season, mainly offering 4WD vehicles for hire.
Added Sridhar: This is an experimental move by the company, but it is also an idea which could be developed in the future, depending on the demand from the local market, and the growth of tourism in Salalah.
Hertz Oman, which operates car rental branches in Wattayeh and at Seeb Airport, will offer car rental services from the National Travel & Tourism offices in Salalah from July to September.
Car rental users in the Middle East planning visits to Salalah during the coming monsoon season can make bookings with Hertz Oman through their travel agent, or by calling either the Hertz International Reservation Centre (973 – 295 858) or their local Hertz reservation centre.
