Hospitality Services from Lebanon and Diplomat International from Kuwait, the organizers of Horeca Kuwait, revealed that the second edition of Horeca, the hospitality and foodservice event, will take place from 5 to 7 December 2005.

This second edition is a continuation of the resounding success witnessed by last year’s exhibition. This year, Horeca has moved to Salwa Sabah Al Ahmad Conference Hall, La Marina Hotel, Salmiya Road, in order to provide for the large number of expected visitors and participants.

The number of sponsors already includes six major companies, one month before the launch of the exhibition’s activities: La Marina Hotel, Safir International for hotel management, L’Espace for hotel equipment supplies, Advanced Technology, Kuwaiti Aviation Services and Co. (KASCO) and Tourist Projects. This year, the event will host companies from Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, UAE, KSA, Oman and Bahrain.

The organizers inform that Kuwaiti hotels will double their capacity by adding more than six thousand new rooms this year. This reflects the development of the hospitality industry in Kuwait and indicates that a larger number of participants and visitors are expected to take part in Horeca Kuwait.

The organizers also inform that a noticeable number of companies have shown interest in sponsoring the event thus raising the level and confirming Horeca as the leading annual meeting place in the hotel and restaurant sector.

Mrs. Joumana Salame, managing director of Hospitality Services (organizer of Horeca Lebanon since 1994 and IHF Jordan since 2000) says that the company gives vast importance to the organization of Horeca Kuwait, given the various positive signs in the country: “Iraq, in its current situation, needs a foodservice provider, and Kuwait is the best place at this end, as it has the top third economy in the gulf region.”

She also adds that “Kuwaiti hotels were ranked first worldwide in terms of occupancy rates in 2003. The Kuwaiti government deploys a lot of effort to activate the tourism sector and it sets several plans and policies in order to encourage foreign investment. Indications show that the year 2008 will be the tourism year for Kuwait.”

It is worth mentioning, that the first edition of Horeca-Kuwait, which took place at the Regency Palace at the end of last year, attracted 66 companies working in the fields of hospitality and foodservice, consequently representing around 210 agencies and products. The Kuwaiti exhibitors occupied 53 stands and 16 stands were allocated to other participants, among them 12 Lebanese companies as well as one company from each of the following countries: the Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and the United States of America.
