Planned development of Prague Congress Centre 2014-2017

The modernization will strengthen the already existing advantages of the PCC such as its outstanding location in the centre of Prague with excellent access and magnificent views of the historical city centre and Prague Castle.

At the end of 2013, the Czech state (represented by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic) became a new shareholder of the Prague Congress Centre (PCC) with a majority stake, and at the same time the City of Prague agreed to increase its shareholding in the Centre. As a result the PCC will receive around 30 million euros for renovation and enlargement. The modernization of the PCC will commence in 2014 and continue through to 2017, but the works will neither hinder nor interfere with any planned events. Current and prospective event organisers and visitors will undoubtedly welcome the planned changes and expansion of services. With this modernization program the PCC is set to become one of the world’s very finest congress centres.

Under the modernization program the PCC will invest first and foremost in the following areas:

  • Enlargement of the exhibition area by about 5,000 m2 – to meet the requirements of organizers of larger congresses, conferences and shows.
  • Exterior – renovation of the exterior will provide the Centre with a modern facade fit for the 21st Century.
  • Interior – renovation of meeting halls, foyers and utility rooms, and replacement of movable furniture and equipment.
  • Fittings and amenities – new power supply, air-conditioning, heating. The new fittings will meet all ecological standards and norms regarding energy and waste management.
  • IT and AV technology – The PCC management plans to further improve the already high quality of IT and audio-visual services offered to enable maximum flexibility and accommodate all modern technological trends and developments.
  • Security – The Czech Republic and Prague are widely recognized as a very safe destination.

Nevertheless, the PCC still plans to invest in even greater security of its premises and guarantee upmost safety for all organizers, participants and visitors without causing inconvenience.

“The Prague Convention Bureau aims to make Prague one of world’s top 10 congress destinations. The renovation and enlargement of the PCC, which the management has been pushing for and can now finally begin, will certainly support this vision,” Michal Karnik, Managing Director of Prague Congress Centre, commented about the plans.

The modernization will strengthen the already existing advantages of the PCC such as its outstanding location in the centre of Prague with excellent access and magnificent views of the historical city centre and Prague Castle. At the same time clients regularly praise highly the professionalism and friendliness of the PCC staff.

The Prague Congress Centre is also due to take over all operations of the adjacent Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre in order to ensure the hotel provides services on the level of the world’s top congress hotels.
