Pulkovo Airport increases passenger traffic by 14.7% in Q1 2019

The number of passengers on domestic flights grew by 16.2% to 2,490,244 passengers. International traffic increased by 11.6% and amounted to 1,154,150 passengers.

In the first quarter of 2019, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport welcomed 3,644,394 passengers, which is 14.7% more than in the same period of 2018.

The number of passengers on domestic flights grew by 16.2% to 2,490,244 passengers. International traffic increased by 11.6% and amounted to 1,154,150 passengers.

In the first quarter of 2019, Pulkovo Airport handled 36,048 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 8.9% year-on-year.

In the first quarter of 2019, Rossiya Airlines, Pobeda, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, and Nordavia were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 2,339,592 passengers at St. Petersburg Airport or 64.2% of the total traffic for that period. Among foreign airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, Lufthansa, Belavia, Emirates, and Finnair became the leaders at St. Petersburg Airport for the 3-month period of 2019. In total, they handled 263,641 passengers at Pulkovo or 7.2% of the airport traffic.

In March 2019, 1,331,310 passengers traveled through Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, a number 16.3% higher than in the same month of 2018.

Domestic traffic increased by 18.8% to 893,723 passengers compared to the same period of 2018. International traffic grew by 11.6% year-on-year and amounted to 437,587 passengers.

In March 2019, Pulkovo Airport handled 12,584 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 7.2% to the level of March 2018.

In March 2019, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7 Airlines, and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 856,633 passengers or 64.3% of the total traffic at St. Petersburg Airport for that period. Among foreign airlines, the leaders were Uzbekistan Airways, Lufthansa, Belavia, Emirates, and Finnair. In total, they handled 101,043 passengers at Pulkovo or 7.6% of the airport traffic for March 2019.

St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport is the fourth airport in Russia in terms of passenger numbers. In 2019, St. Petersburg airport, for the fourth year in a row, became the winner of the national ‘Air Gates of Russia’ award, according to the passengers’ votes. Since 2010, Northern Capital Gateway LLC has been the main operator of Pulkovo implementing  the airport reconstruction and development project under the public-private partnership agreement with the city St. Petersburg.
