Qatar Airways celebrates 10 years of flying to Moscow

Due to popular demand, Qatar Airways’ flights to Moscow grew from 7 to 10 flights per week in February 2010 and again from 10 to 12 weekly flights from September 2013.

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Qatar Airways, the national airline of the State of Qatar celebrated 10 years of service to Moscow with a press conference and gala dinner.

Qatar Airways is currently operating 12 weekly flights to Russia’s Domodedovo Airport. The Moscow – Doha route is operated with an Airbus 321 aircraft offering 12 seats in Business Class and up to 170 in Economy.

Due to popular demand, Qatar Airways’ flights to Moscow grew from 7 to 10 flights per week in February 2010 and again from 10 to 12 weekly flights from September 2013.

Russia is also a very popular market for Qatar Executive, the airline’s luxury private jet division which offers customers the convenience of booking an aircraft in as little as four hours before departure, access to premium airport lounges, and check-in 30 minutes prior to take off.

During the press conference, Qatar Airways Country Manager Russia, Nazir Abduvakhidov said: “The past decade has been a remarkable journey for the Qatar Airways team in Russia and also our loyal passengers. On behalf of the airline, I thank the Government, Airport and Civil Aviation Authorities in Russia for ten years of continuous support.”

Qatar Airways offers one of the quickest connections for passengers, with a minimum connecting time at Doha International Airport of just 45 minutes.

Qatar Airways’ passengers travelling in First or Business Class can enjoy the airline’s dedicated Premium Terminal, which is seen as a benchmark in the region and, indeed, rest of the world. The terminal is designed to create an inviting ambience. First-class passengers can enjoy excellent facilities available such as a spa, jacuzzi and sauna. First- and Business-class passengers can enjoy extensive duty-free shopping, fine dining, use the business centre and check their emails, or just watch TV in the serene surroundings of fantastic water features.

Qatar Airways will also be the mainline airline operator of the new Hamad International Airport (HIA) which will accommodate 24 million passengers annually when it opens early next year, increasing to 50 million beyond 2015. HIA promises to be a world-class facility ensuring that all passengers have a truly five-star experience that they fully deserve.

Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 128 aircraft to 133 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.

In 2013, Qatar Airways has launched 11 destinations to date – Gassim (Saudi Arabia), Najaf (Iraq), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Chicago (USA), Salalah (Oman), Basra (Iraq), Sulaymaniyah (Iraq), Chengdu (China), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Ta’if (Saudi Arabia) and most recently, Clark Manila International Airport (Philippines).

Over the next few months, the network will grow further with Hangzhou, China (December 20), Sharjah, UAE (March 1, 2014), Dubai World Central, UAE (March 1, 2014), Philadelphia, USA (April 2, 2014), Edinburgh, Scotland (May 28, 2014) and Miami, USA (10 June 2014).
