Ramblers Worldwide Holidays's new Adagio programme gathers pace

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays recently launched 'Adagio' programme of 'gentle' guided walking and river cruising adventures in Europe has proved so successful that extra dates have already been added due to popular demand.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays‘s new “Adagio” programme of ‘gentle’ guided walking combined with leisurely river cruising on the Danube, Rhine and Rhone with AmaWaterways, features the following European destinations: The Loire and Annecy, France; the Alpujarras and Andalucia, Spain; Sintra, Northern Portugal; Algarve, Portugal; Jungfrau, Switzerland; the Etruscan Highlands, Italy; Cyprus and the Greek island of Evia.

Holidays which have proved the most successful to date are Quinta Bonita, Western Algarve and Lazy Alps, Jungfrau, Switzerland.

Quinta Bonita, Southern Portugal – a seven night holiday in a family run, beautifully converted farmhouse in the unspoiled Western Algarve. The journey begins with a flight to Faro and a short drive to Quinta Bonita, near Lagos. Highlights include, a cliff-top stroll between the old fishing villages of Luz and Burgau; exploring Lagos and its colourful market; a boat trip along the coastal grottos; the mountain villages of the Serra de Monchique; savouring local wines; and fish restaurants; the lighthouse at St Vincent; the walk along the coast to Salema from Burgau and the opportunity to simply languish around the hotel’s heated swimming pool and spectacular gardens.

The Lazy Alps – a seven night holiday languidly exploring the Jungfrau region, one of Europe’s most beautiful destinations.  Begins with a flight to Zurich then train ride to Interlaken and cog-wheel train to Wengen. Highlights include, a cable car up to Männlichen; walks to Kleine Scheidegg; stunning views of the Eiger; a picnic lunch at Biglenalp; the cog wheel train up to Schynigge Platte for superb views of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Brienzer and Thuner lakes; the Jungfraubahn Pass covering all local travel; the meadows and woods of Grindelwald; the Holenstein cable car to Brandegg (famous for its apple fritters!) and a stroll across the Lauterbrunnen Valley from Grütschalp to Mürren.
