Reisen Hamburg 2013; explore dream destinations at the Hamburg Fair site from 6 to 10 February

Some 800 exhibitors are there with their most attractive ideas and latest offers for holidays and leisure activities in the 2013 season, such as cruising, family holidays, adventure trips, walking and cycling holidays.

Dreaming of idyllic islands, majestic mountain peaks or exotic cultures? There is no better destination for adventure seekers and global travellers than Reisen Hamburg, at the Hamburg Fair site from 6 to 10 February 2013 – a showcase for holiday, caravaning, outdoor and cycling. Some 800 exhibitors are there with their most attractive ideas and latest offers for holidays and leisure activities in the 2013 season, such as cruising, family holidays, adventure trips, walking and cycling holidays. The German and international tourist offices, tour operators and specialist travel companies will present their individual programmes, helping travellers to turn their dreams into reality. The partner country for Reisen Hamburg 2013 is Iceland, the North Atlantic island of ice and fire. With glaciers, volcanoes and geysirs, Iceland gives countless opportunities for exploration trips and activities in fascinating landscapes and natural settings.

Exploring Germany and the whole wide world
From the Black Forest to the Caribbean, from the Harz Mountains to Peking – Reisen Hamburg has seven exhibition halls packed with fascinating travel destinations just waiting to be explored. With a chance to talk face-to-face with experts who are there to give their impressions of exotic cultures, landscapes and climate zones, and to provide insider information. There are plenty of tourist offices from Europe and overseas – a precious source of knowledge for travellers. Leading tour operators will be there, such as Thomas Cook, Marco Polo, Schauinsland-Reisen and Oger Tours, presenting their new programme modules and complete packages for destinations throughout the world. The German regions and cities and will also be showcasing their best holiday ideas, from Fehmarn in the far north to Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg, which visitors will find in the Southern Germany Hall. The main focus there will be on ideas for family holidays.

Ocean cruising has a fascination all of its own. The expert cruise operators and cruise lines will be there to help you choose, with exclusive luxury cruises, exciting Atlantic trips and authentic freighter voyages.

Walking tall
The Outdoor World is full of new ideas and helpful hints on walking, climbing and cycling, inspiring all who like to get outdoors to escape from everyday routine. Adventure holiday enthusiasts and families will find lots of new ideas to try out, such as the Globetrotter Adventure Camp with its ropes course, and the cycling circuit. Plus practical equipment and advice from real insiders. This year, walking is a really big subject – a new focal point at Reisen Hamburg 2013 will be the “Wanderdorf”, telling visitors about the most attractive German regions to explore on foot. Globetrotter Equipment will also take up this topic, presenting a wide range of rucksacks.

The big cycling section at Reisen Hamburg is not only about equipment, leisure and sporting activities by bike and e-bike. The highlight this year will be the presence of five long distance bikers, with exciting presentations and face-to-face discussions at their stands, telling visitors about their experience on extreme tours around the world. Workshops on the subject will also give visitors valuable tips on tour planning and any emergency repairs that might be needed en route.

Worldwide travellers, trekking enthusiasts, safari fans and wildlife lovers will take the opportunity to visit specialist tour operators at Reisen Hamburg – such as Hauser Exkursionen, Taruk, Karawane Reisen and forum anders reisen, who have developed special tours to make a holiday a really exceptional experience, never to be forgotten.

Everything for camping and caravaning
The caravaning section will show visitors not only the current models of mobile homes and caravans, but also give them a close-up view of a number of compact versions for newcomers, and exclusive luxury vans. Plus useful equipment to make mobile holidays more comfortable, and safer. There will also be information for campers and caravaners on camping holidays, tours and sites. Alongside the tour operators and the regions, there will also be stands of the BVCD (German Camping Association) and the DCC (Deutsche Camping Club).

The “German Tourism Analysis” will be presented again by Dr. Ulrich Reinhardt, Scientific Head of Tourism Research at the BAT Foundation for Future Studies, on the first day of Reisen Hamburg, analysing the future trends in holiday wishes and developments.
