Revealed: The winners of the UK’s 2020 staycation trend

The team at Dayinsure has revealed the winners of the UK staycation trend in 2020.

By collecting Google search volume data, Dayinsure has discovered which counties, seaside locations, and attractions have benefited the most from people deciding to holiday at home in 2020. The search volume data was collected between March and July 2020, was sorted, analysed and presented, allowing for the winners of the staycation trend in the UK to be revealed to the public.

Discover some of the findings below:

  • Cornwall is the most searched for holiday destination by county. This popular holiday destination received 236,900 searches between March and July.
  • Bournemouth is the most searched for seaside town in the UK. The results show that this famous seaside location has garnered more interest than its rivals over the period.
  • Cheddar Gorge is the most searched for National Trust property out of over 400 famous locations around the nation.
  • Stonehenge is the most searched for English Heritage site. This iconic historical landmark continues to drive incredible interest.

Dayinsure’s team had this to say: “Despite the fact the whole world is going through a turbulent time right now, it’s brilliant to see more UK residents looking to enjoy what the nation has to offer when it comes to holiday destinations.

“It might come as no surprise that Cornwall and the South West performed well across the board, as stunning locations that offer visitors a sense of rurality, they are the perfect remedy for current events. Cornwall especially has always been a popular holiday destination for those looking for some RR and it just shows that this year the county’s long-standing adoration has been amplified.”
