Sadler’s Wells invests £7m in venue refurbishment programme

The full project will be complete at the end of 2015 and will see an estimated 12% reduction in carbon emissions.

Sadler’s Wells theatre reopens for conference and events business in September having completed three quarters of its £7.3 million refurbishment programme. The refurbishment is focused on upgrades to the theatre’s technologies, events spaces and key sustainability initiatives. The improvements will benefit corporate event planners and delegates with improved accessibility, upgraded sustainability and energy economy and smart technological facilities.

The full project will be complete at the end of 2015 and will see an estimated 12% reduction in carbon emissions. With a budget of £1.2m allocated for the venue’s specific sustainability efforts, Sadler’s Wells will benefit from energy saving LED lighting, a new main entrance which will reduce heat loss and the addition of energy generating photovoltaic cells on the roof to provide electricity for the theatre.

Event Manager at Sadler’s Wells Georgie Mackie says: “We’re delighted that we will be able to offer such great facilities for our conference and events guests here at Sadler’s Wells.

“With sustainability and technology requirements high on the events industry agenda, we’re really proud to be keeping on top of these issues, giving us the opportunity to offer such cutting-edge facilities across our range of event spaces.”

Sadler’s Wells will be hosting an event for clients, partners and media on October 22nd “Step into Sadler’s” to celebrate the reopening of the newly refurbished venue.
