The Authority is aggressively promoting latest attractions and advances in Sharjah’s tourism experience in the Spanish market from an exclusive, dedicated stand that celebrates various facets of Sharjah’s tourism landscape, various cultural and tourism festivals and attractions.

SHARJAH – Madrid is the first stop on Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority’s reinvigorated promotional and marketing campaign for Year 2014 which includes showcasing the Emirate at the dedicated international tourism exhibitions and trade forums around the world. The International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur), opened on Wednesday January 22 in the Spanish capital, Madrid, with the Authority showcasing the best of Sharjah’s tourism offering. The exhibition concluded yesterday.

Headed by the SCTDA, the Sharjah delegation to Fitur Madrid includes representatives of various Sharjah government entities and private players of the tourism industry including Environment and Protected Areas Authority Sharjah (EPAA) and Hamriya Free Zone Authority (HAFZA) and Cozmo Travel etc.

The Authority is aggressively promoting latest attractions and advances in Sharjah’s tourism experience in the Spanish market from an exclusive, dedicated stand that celebrates various facets of Sharjah’s tourism landscape, various cultural and tourism festivals and attractions with the help of various special promotional activities and literature in Spanish and other international languages.

Underscoring the importance of the presence at Fitur Madrid, HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority said that the Authority looked forward to the event given the success of the past two participations and the significance of Spanish market.

Pointing out that the Madrid exhibition brings together industry leaders, international investors and a host of experts from across Europe and from around the world, he said that this was an ideal platform to promote Sharjah’s tourism product and increase its share of the Spanish and European tourism market.

It also helps us keep pace with the latest trends and developments in the global travel and tourism industry and generates opportunities for cooperation between stakeholders in various sectors in Sharjah and major international players attracting big investors and leading to tourism exchange and greater tourist arrivals, he added.

Al Noman emphasised the fact that this is the first international participation of the Authority in 2014 when Sharjah is being celebrated as the Capital of Islamic Culture. The Authority is therefore keen to highlight the best of Sharjah’s rich culture and civilizational heritage and its world renowned festivals and events hosted throughout the year, most notably, the Sharjah Light Festival being held in February, he said.

This is the third year of Sharjah’s participation in the popular exhibition in Madrid. The Emirate registered its presence and made a mark for itself during its participation in the Fitur Madrid both in 2012 and 2013, with the Sharjah pavilion attracting a number of industry leaders and dignitaries, including HE Dr Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba, the UAE Ambassador to Spain.

For this year as well, a number of meetings with senior government figures and industry leaders have been lined up for this year’s exhibition as well.
