Seatrade announces shortlist in global 20 under 40 initiative

Mary Bond, Editor of Seatrade Cruise News, reveals the shortlist.

In a special ceremony at Seatrade Cruise Med, which takes place in Lisbon, Portugal from 19-20 September 2018, the top 20 finalists will be unveiled and presented with a trophy.

LONDON (UK) – An international search to find 20 under 40 years olds from the global cruise industry who have shown either great initiative, an exceptionally hardworking culture or demonstrated strong leadership, is nearly over.

The exciting new initiative, launched earlier this year by Seatrade Cruise News in conjunction with Seatrade Cruise Med, attracted entries from across the industry and with representation internationally.

According to Mary Bond, Editor of Seatrade Cruise News: “As a veteran within the industry myself, it is really encouraging to see so much younger talent thriving within the cruise sectors and rising to prominent, key positions.”

The competition, sponsored by TVG Travel, enters its next stage now that the entries have been whittled down to a shortlist of 40.

In a special ceremony at Seatrade Cruise Med, which takes place in Lisbon, Portugal from 19-20 September 2018, the top 20 finalists will be unveiled and presented with a trophy during a presentation which will take place on the 20th September at 13:20-14:20 at the Excellence Theatre on the showfloor.

Once the finalists are announced, those top 20 will be invited on stage to have a chat with the judges, including Liz Gammon, General Manager, TVG Travel; Craig Milan, VP Itinerary Planning & Destination Development of Virgin Voyages and Mary Bond, Editor of Seatrade Cruise News, on what motivates them and drives their success.

According to Celeste Huang, Senior Content Producer, Seatrade Cruise, UBM EMEA: “20 under 40 doesn’t simply mean a recognition, it also represents great inspiration from the industry and to the industry, in which young talents can thrive.”
