Tanzania’s trends of international visitor arrivals by purpose of visit

“Leisure, Recreation and Holiday lead the factors for Tourists arrivals”.

DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA – There are some factors that pull the tourists to visit some places. Tanzania has been a cool place for tourists to spend their holidays in the most favorable seasons or visiting some friends and doing some business.

Among other factors, Leisure and Recreation have been on top for tourists arrivals in Tanzania followed by the purpose of visiting relatives and friends, business, professional and Transit.

According to statistics released by Tanzania Tourism Board 2014/2015, visiting for Leisure and recreation takes 81%, while 8% for friends and relatives, 6% for business and professional and the remaining for transit and others.

“We have seen a potential to improve some areas so as to increase the number of visitors in Tanzania. Most Tourists come for Leisure and Holiday; this is a good indication that we have a peaceful land that is full of attractions that everyone would like to experience," said Andrea Guzzoni, Country Manager of JovagoTanzania.

“Let’s preserve the most important places like Beaches, Historical sites and Game reserves; these are the heritage sites that provide the best Country’s identity,” he added.

According to Lilian Kisasa, Jovago’s Pr and Communications Manager, people in some other countries like China, India and Malaysia visit for studies or business, but it is quite different in Tanzania. It is not a dream to be on top in terms of Business and Education; we can also improve on these factors and make Tanzania a better home that everyone would wish to visit.
