TTG 2020, Emilia-Romagna takes sports on holiday

The Region as a sports tourism hub. Public Administrations, sports federations and clubs consider Italian Exhibition Group’s TTG 2020, being held from 14th to 16th October at Rimini expo centre, the marketplace that the sector lacked. Institutional talks in the Emilia-Romagna Sport Arena, business meetings, a lounge area for networking events: this is “Sports on holiday. Sports tourism as promotion for the Region”.

RIMINI (ITALY) – Emilia-Romagna – the hub of sports tourism. The Region and APT Servizi Emilia-Romagna take “Sports on Holiday” at the 57° TTG Travel Experience organized by Italian Exhibition Group, being held from 14th to 16th October at Rimini expo centre. Sports tourism is warming up at the side of the pitch: it is preparing to cover events with wide participation by sportsmen and woman and professionals, through to the highlighting of the Emilia-Romagna area, from the Apennines to beaches, like a true open-air gym.

In this new format, the buyers are the professional federations, sports clubs, organizers of events and specialized tour operators; whereas the sellers are public administrations, hoteliers and tourism companies. Together, at the business meetings and networking events they give shape and substance to a market sector in which the Emilia-Romagna Region intends playing a leading role.

“Sports on holiday. Sports tourism as promotion for the Region” becomes the space dedicated to institutional talks and market networking at TTG: the entire Hall C4 of the expo centre and the “Emilia-Romagna Sport Arena” will be dedicated to sports tourism as promotion for the Region. The flagship appointment: the presentation of the “Emilia-Romagna Sport Commission e Grandi Eventi” with the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and CONI President Giovanni Malago on Wednesday 14th October at 2:00 pm in the Main Arena – South Foyer.

Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia Romagna Region stresses, “We are coming out of an unprecedented period for Emilia-Romagna from the point of view of sports events: in a few weeks we have hosted two MotoGP grand prix in Misano Adriatico, the world Cycling Championships in Imola, the Italian Bike Festival in Rimini in September, as well as the Tennis Internationals in Forli and Parma. The coming weeks won’t be any less impressive, with the Romagna stages of the Giro d’Italia being held simultaneously precisely with TTG and F1 in Imola in November, once again confirming how our Region is a key player on the international scenario, showing itself to be an “arena” able to attract sport events of international calibre and organize them in the utmost safety. A showcase for the entire country. We are increasingly convinced that sport is an extraordinary dynamo generating employment, tourist attendance and induced business, giving our area and its numerous excellent features and products great visibility. Inspired by the European sport commissions, at TTG we are presenting an ad hoc body that will work in close cooperation with the public administration, the sports world and the tourism and business sectors to ensure Emilia-Romagna an increasingly high profile on the tourism market with a sports vocation, in order to attract large appointments drawing big crowds and wide interest.”

Italian Exhibition Group President Lorenzo Cagnoni states, “Our mission is to create a network with the Institutions to provide enterprises competitive tools. This is the exhibitions system. And the fact that the Emilia-Romagna Region has chosen TTG to present itself to the sector’s trade members as a destination for professional sports and large events confirms the correctness of the choice of a trajectory that, starting out by hosting and promoting the ideas that currently inspire us, in the future will multiply their business value.”

Plus, on the three days of appointments: The National Meeting of Sports Tourism, at which public and private organizations will analyze the best practices on which to establish regional strategies (Wednesday 14th October, Sisto Neri Room, 3:30 pm), the communication of sports events (15th October, Emilia-Romagna Sport Arena, 10:30 am), involvement and practice of events with wide participation – Outdoor and Indoor Sports (15th October, Emilia-Romagna Sport Arena, 3:30 pm), The Apennines and beaches as open-air gyms in Emilia-Romagna (16th October, Emilia-Romagna Sport Arena, 11:00 am).
