Tunisair Express adds additional festive flights to the heart of the oases

The extra domestic flights come hot on the heels of the launch of Tunisair's daily flights from London Heathrow to Tunis-Carthage International airport on 27 October 2013.

TunisAir Express, a subsidiary of Tunisia’s national carrier Tunisair, will add twelve additional flights from Tunis-Carthage International airport to Tozeur International airport between 21 December 2013 and 5 January 2014.

With a flight time of just over one hour from the capital Tunis to the oasis town of Tozeur in the south-west of the country, Tunisia is an affordable and quick last-minute desert getaway this Christmas.

The extra domestic flights come hot on the heels of the launch of Tunisair’s daily flights from London Heathrow to Tunis-Carthage International airport on 27 October 2013.

So far this year Tunisia has welcomed 397,531 UK holidaymakers, up an incredible 25 per cent on last year and an increase of 17 per cent on 2010’s record breaking figures.

“The flights to Tozeur will certainly open up the south-west of the country to UK tourists who are looking to see another side of Tunisia as they can easily explore the area’s natural hot springs, impressive salt lakes, desert movie-set scenes and activities, including dune buggy riding and Bedouin camping excursions,” said Wahida Jaiet, UK & Ireland Director, The Tunisian National Tourist Office.

South of Tozeur, visitors will find the town of Douz known as the Gateway of the Sahara, where the spectacular Festival of the Sahara will take place from Boxing Day to 29 December 2013.
