Carnival Cruise Lines will host a live Internet webcast of the official naming ceremony for its new cruise ship, Carnival Valor, on Friday, Dec. 17 beginning at 6 p.m.
Live streaming video of the ceremony, which will feature the ship`s godmother Katie Couric, co-host of NBC News` Today show, breaking the traditional bottle of champagne on the ship`s bow, will be broadcast on the cruise line`s Internet site, carnival.com.
This is a terrific opportunity for people all over the world to share in the excitement of the official naming of Carnival`s newest `Fun Ship`, said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.
The invitation-only naming ceremony will be followed by a private event for Carnival employees. The following evening, Carnival Valor will serve as the venue for a gala fundraiser to benefit the Camillus House and the United Way of Miami-Dade. The ship then begins year-round seven-day Caribbean service from Miami on Sunday, Dec. 19, becoming the largest Fun Ship ever based in South Florida.
The third in Carnival`s highly successful 110,000-ton Conquest-class, Carnival Valor houses 22 lounges and bars, a 13,300-square-foot health club, a golf program, a nine-deck-high atrium, expansive children and teen facilities, and four restaurants, including a reservations-only supper club.
