Year-on-year USA and Canada sales up by almost a quarter for the independent tour operator

Premier Holidays’ magix quarter

Premier Holidays is using its new America and Canada brochure to highlight a wider product range, reflective of a 24 per cent year-on-year sales increase and the strength of tailor-madebreaks.

“The new brochure includes fantastic added value offers and a wider range of tailor-made tours, plus self drives suggestions to reflect the increased demand we have seen for tailor-made holidays,” says Susan Papworth, Managing Director at Premier Holidays. “By increasing this content, we are confident our product is one of the most competitive and flexible on the market and hopeful last year’s increase in sales to the region will continue.”

The tailor-made specialist has also seen a rise in the length of stay by visitors to America and Canada from ten days average stay to 11, indicative of the increase in sales of personalised programmes and multi-centre holidays.

“Over the last few years, bookings to the USA and Canada have been strongest in the city break markets. Short holidays account for 58 per cent of our business to North America. New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Memphis are popular, but booking trends are changing as people seek more from their holiday,” says Heidi Blades, USA and Canada Manager at Premier Holidays.

“We’re seeing a major shift to tailor-made, multi-centre holidays as holidaymakers are increasingly discerning about what they want to see and experience. Dual, three and four centre holidays now account for 42 per cent of our business, with dual centre holidays the most popular and showing a 4 per cent increase year on year.

“Not everyone wants the beaches of LA coupled with the bright lights of Vegas – some prefer a fly-drive in the Deep South or Canada’s Rocky Mountains, others are looking to get back to nature with a lodge stay in Yosemite.

“Visitors to the US and Canada are also web-savvy when researching their holidays so we’ve upgraded our online booking facility for agents to assist them with enquiries by adding an improved search facility and broader range of accommodation available online, allowing agents access to over 6,000 hotels plus the option to search by price and alphabetically, along with Premier Holidays’ recommended hotels.

“As the market for tailor-made holidays increases so too does the demand for personalised service and expert knowledge. Agents are making use of our reservations team, many of whom have travelled extensively through the USA and Canada, and are able to use their specialist knowledge to recommend the best value for money and experiences."
