Virgin America launches new service from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with a star-studded first flight

Airline celebrates First LAX-LAS Flights with red carpet welcome at McCarran International Airport with Sir Richard Branson.

Virgin America celebrates the launch of its new daily nonstop flight service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) with a red carpet welcome for guests onboard its inaugural flight. The three daily roundtrip flights will add to the airline’s existing service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to LAS and from New York’s JFK International Airport (JFK) to LAS. Upon touchdown of the airline’s first LAX-LAS flight, guests will receive a Vegas welcome with a Virgin twist at a red carpet reception at the LAS arrival gate. First flight guests including celebrities, Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson and Virgin America CEO David Cush, will be met at LAS by local officials and LAS leadership.

After walking the LAS red carpet upon arrival, flight guests will be treated to tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails like the “Virgintini” and “The Cosmopolitan,” designed by a master mixologist from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. In honor of its Vegas expansion, this month the airline launches a “Have One on Me” feature on flights nationwide. The new feature will allow guests to use the airline’s touch-screen seatback personal entertainment platform to send a cocktail to a fellow traveler onboard a flight.  Virgin America already features a seat-to-seat chat platform via its Red in-flight entertainment system, so that travelers can send text messages to other guests on their aircraft. The carrier reports that the Chat feature is most frequently used on its LAS flights.

Known for its mood-lit cabins and high-tech features, Virgin America has swept the travel awards, including “Best Domestic Airline” in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s  World’s Best Awards for five years running. The airline offers WiFi on every flight, new planes with three beautifully designed classes of service and personal touch-screen entertainment for every guest (with 25 movies, live TV, Google maps, videogames, on-demand menus, seat-to-seat chat and more).
