KeyTours takes a step forward in sustainability

KeyTours focuses on creating and offering Greece’s best cultural tours, all while reducing its environmental footprint.

KeyTours announces its partnership with Sustainable Travel International and the start of its ESG plan which presents the company’s efforts from now on to offer quality tours in a more responsible manner. KeyTours prioritizes initiatives where they can have the greatest impact given the corporate purpose and mission. The company is immensely mindful of its responsibility to minimize its environmental footprint – in support of the tourism industry’s target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and also because for KeyTours it’s the right thing to do.

KeyTours ESG plan is based on 3 central pillars.

1. The environmental impact
KeyTours is pleased to announce the launch of its offsetting program. Its goal focuses on the emissions that by now include a carbon footprint mostly from its bus tours and transfers. Trying to achieve net-zero emissions, KeyTours purchases carbon offsets and provide funding for forestry, energy, and blue carbon projects around the world. Examples include reforestation in Indonesia and Brazil and renewable energy sources in Thailand. Furthermore, It has taken significant energy efficiency measures and steps to improve recycling in order to integrate it into the company’s daily routine. KeyTours also helps the environment at a local level and has donated 100 trees for reforestation of the recently burned down Voulas’ mountain, the
equivalent of over 15 tons of carbon reduction.

2. The social impact
KeyTours is committed to enriching lives by making a positive and lasting impact on its communities. KeyTours focus is on creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone is treated with empathy and respect. In addition, it focuses on the well-being of its employees by offering a private group insurance package. Moreover, the company supports local societies by collaborating with local catering and accommodation family businesses in the Greek province and protects personal data by implementing and maintaining data privacy policies.

3. The governance impact
KeyTours is dedicated to working hard to create a purpose-led culture where its people are proud and excited to come to work every day. Additionally, the company fosters an inclusive work environment that respects diversity and supports it with a view not only to the individual and social good but also to the corporate one.

Dimitris Bistolas, CEO of KeyTours stated: “Our commitment includes an assurance that we will act with unwavering integrity while reducing our environmental footprint, that we will promote and respect human rights, and that we will offer favorable labor conditions. To that end, we announce the start of our cooperation with Sustainable Travel International. We are confident that this plan will take us towards a sustainable future with confidence”.
