Romantic getaways for less

Valentines’ Day comes but once a year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t treat our other half to a romantic meal once in a while, or better still a few days away in an exciting European city.

With many couples finding it harder and harder to get on the property ladder, or save money for ‘the big day’ there’s often little time for quality couple time, but whilst budgeting and cost cutting are important ways to reach those ultimate life-goals, there are ways to get away for less and keep that spark alive in the meantime.

With more and more low-cost airlines offering cheap flights to an array of European cities, there’s never been a better time to get away from it all, and if you do your research it needn’t break the bank either.

Once flights are booked you can spend some time finding the best accommodation options – whether you want to opt for a low-cost hostel, a budget bed and breakfast or a luxury hotel.
So once you’ve decided on a budget you’ll want to select a destination venue. For those looking for a really romantic break Paris ticks all the right boxes. With iconic sights such as the Eiffel Tower to visit, fabulous art galleries, museums and candlelit bistros to enjoy, you’ll certainly earn a few brownie points with your other half.

Those interested in art should take time out to visit the Pompidou Centre which houses one of the finest collections of modern art works in Europe, or if you’re looking for a typically Parisian way to spend an evening then why not take in a show at the spectacular, larger than life Moulin Rouge.

With affordable flights to Paris leaving daily you could be strolling down the Champs-Élysées before you know it.

However, if France doesn’t appeal to you, why not consider the Dutch city of Amsterdam. Offering a winning combination of sightseeing, an eclectic café culture and buzzing nightlife, young couples will love exploring this vibrant city.

By day there are a host of museums and art galleries to explore; no trip to the city is complete without a visit to the poignant Anne Frank’s Museum. Spend lazy afternoons exploring the canals and byways and if you want to get out of the city a two hour journey will allow you to take in the sights, windmills and tulips of the beautiful Dutch countryside.

Evenings can be as chilled or as up tempo as you desire, whether you want to take a sneaky peek at the Red Light District, enjoy a romantic dinner in a chic bistro or dance the night away in a trendy club; there’s plenty to keep you busy.

Scheduled flights to Amsterdam leave daily giving you the freedom to select a time that fits around your commitments, and with affordable flight offers available on a weekly basis, a weekend break can be booked at very short notice.

With the stresses and strains of modern life often taking their toll on modern couples and their relationships, it’s worth taking a break to spend quality time with the special someone in your life, and by researching fight and hotel packages carefully, it needn’t cost a fortune either.
