Dubai Customs joins hands with stakeholders at the airport to offer best services to customers

Dubai Customs Director Tours Passenger and Cargo terminals at Al Maktoum International Airport.

DUBAI – H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, expressed DC’s commitment to providing all the operational requirements to cope with for the current development and expansion taking place at Al Maktoum International Airport, by putting in place top-notch technical facilities to expedite and ease the flow of passengers and cargo, in addition to dedicating highly qualified personnel at the vital airport, which stands as one of the emirate’s most vibrant gateways to the world. The airport has witnessed an increasingly growing influx of travellers and flights since its official inauguration, particularly after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, endorsed the AED 120 billion expansion of Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC) which will ultimately accommodate more than 200 million passengers a year.

Then added, “Dubai Customs works relentlessly to ensure the safety and security of the community, being its first line of defence, in addition to its important role of supporting the national economy by actively contributing to attracting more investments and enhancing the UAE’s appeal as a prime global destination for business.”

Ahmed Mahboob made the statement while touring Dubai Customs’ centers at Al Maktoum Airport and Logistics City. Aimed at inspecting the latest updates and developments and directly interacting with employees, the routine tour covered the Cargo Terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai Logistics City Customs Centre, Emirates Sky Cargo Terminal, the Passenger Terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport and Private Aviation Terminal.

Human Cadre
Ahmed Mahboob further remarked that there are 108 DC employees currently working at Al Maktoum Intl. Airport round-the-clock on shift basis. They were enrolled in 44 training courses and 27 workshops in various fields. A total of 16 inspection devices, including devices for screening luggage, hand bags and intestines, are deployed at airport facilities, Cargo Village, Emirates Sky Cargo and the Private Aviation Terminal.

Easing Passenger Procedures
The Director of Dubai Customs stressed the importance of offering a friendly welcome to the passengers at Al Maktoum International Airport, easing their entry procedure in a most civilized manner, as befits the UAE’s worldwide reputation as a welcoming, visitor-friendly and hospitable country.

He also commended the efforts of inspection staff who are keen to deliver exceptional services to the customers, praising  their high sense of loyalty and devotion to elevate their level of performance up to the highest regional and global standards in Customs work.

The Director of Dubai Customs was accompanied by Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Executive Director of Customer Management Division, Butti Al Jumairi, Executive Director of HR, Finance and Administration Division, Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej, Director of Passenger Operations Department, and directors and managers at the Al Maktoum Intl. Airport and Dubai Logistics City.

His Excellency also stressed that, “Dubai Customs is working works side-by-side strategic partners to reach the uppermost levels of customer satisfaction regionally and globally. This is being achieved through the delivery of better services and deployment of latest technology.”

He further said, “DC takes customer satisfaction as a primary target. To that end, customers are offered all necessary facilitations across all customs centers via highly qualified and carefully selected human resources, whose main mission is to meet the expectations of our clients and maintain Dubai Customs’ fine reputation worldwide.”

Dubai Customs Director also emphasized DC’s commitment to granting passengers at both Dubai International and Al Maktoum Intl. Airport an exceptionally warm welcome, reflecting a brighter image for the UAE in general and Dubai in particular.
It is worth noting that the passenger and cargo traffic at Dubai World Central’s Al Maktoum International Airport scored a major surge in the first half of 2014, as it received 2923 flights, 273,000 passengers and  326,567 bags. Moreover, the Cargo Terminal recorded 1664 cargo flights and a freight volume of 101.2 tons.

On the other hand, Emirates Sky Cargo Terminal received 811 flights since it was opened last May. As many as 22,551 customs declarations were processed at Al Maktoum Intl. Airport’s Cargo Terminal.

Entry Procedures
Walid Essa bin Darwich, Director, Al Maktoum Air Customs Centres, stated: “Through the facilitations we provide to customers, we endeavor as much as possible to expedite their entry procedures into the UAE without delay. Dubai Customs continuously educate the passengers and visitors arriving to the country about the customs procedures applicable at the airport. Such information is made available via our website,  the Passengers Guide and the Passengers Chart, where they can get illuminated about matters such as permitted items, items to be declared, refund of deposits, and other customs procedures.

Walid Essa then elaborated,“The DC Director’s visit to Dubai Customs centre in Dubai Logistics City (DLC) incites us to further enhance our service offerings delivered to clients and streamline procedures, especially that DLC operates as a free zone and by its name offers integrated logistics services including customs.
