Costa Cruises launches one-day tours to Moscow

The Italian cruise company is the first to offer day trips to the Russian capital.

Costa Cruises is to launch a new summer cruise on board the Costa Luminosa, allowing guests the unique opportunity to visit Moscow for a day.

The ‘Jewels of the Baltic’ itinerary is available throughout August 2016, with weekly sailings from Stockholm. Costa Luminosa calls at Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Tallinn, before returning to Stockholm.

During the port call in St. Petersburg, guests will have the exclusive opportunity to visit Moscow on the new bullet train. The Sapsan takes just four hours to reach the Russian capital and the ‘Moscow in a day’ tour starts with an energy-boosting breakfast on the high-speed train. The first stop is a tour of the Kremlin and a visit to the Armory Museum. Travellers can then explore the spectacular St. Basil's Cathedral and look round Red Square at their leisure, before enjoying dinner on the train back to St. Petersburg.

Alternatively, guests can opt for the two day ‘Super Russia’ excursion including a visit to Moscow and a guided tour of St. Petersburg.

The panoramic tour of the home of the Czars takes in the main tourist attractions, including the Winter Palace and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Guests will be able to enjoy a guided visit of the Peter & Paul Fortress and Cathedral, before heading for the world-renowned Hermitage. Guests can enjoy a two-hour guided tour of the masterpieces in one of the world’s largest museums and marvel at the majestic architecture in which they are housed.

Guests embarking on one of Costa’s shore tours in Russia won’t have to worry about securing a visa, as tourist visas are included in the price of the excursion and tours can be booked right up until the day before.
