American Airlines connects Europe to Auckland with new trans-Pacific service

For passengers travelling from Los Angeles to Auckland, American will be operating its newest addition to the fleet, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

LONDON, ENGLAND – American Airlines customers can now customers enjoy a new service to Auckland (AKL), when the world’s largest airline introduces its daily service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  For passengers travelling from, or connecting via London Heathrow Airport (LHR), the new route offers a gateway from London to New Zealand, building on American’s growing trans-pacific network.

Over the last three years, American Airlines has added six new trans-Pacific routes, nearly doubling its presence in the region. For passengers travelling from Los Angeles to Auckland, American will be operating its newest addition to the fleet, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

American’s 787-8 features a state-of-the-art onboard experience including satellite Wi-Fi to keep customers connected while travelling, as well as higher humidity and pressurization, leaving customers more refreshed after their flight. The aircraft is configured with 28 fully lie-flat Business Class seats, each with direct-aisle access. There are an additional 48 Main Cabin Extra seats with extra legroom, and 150 Main Cabin seats. Onboard, every seat has a touchscreen monitor equipped with up to 250 movies, 130 TV shows, 18 radio channels, 380 albums and 20 games, along with universal AC power outlets and USB compatibility. Business Class passengers are invited to enjoy the inflight experience with Bose® QuietComfort® Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones.

Commenting on the significance of the new route for UK travelers, David Thomas, Director, Sales UK & Ireland at American Airlines said: “American Airlines network from the UK continues to expand with new 1 stop connections from London Heathrow to Auckland via Los Angeles. With the largest network in the world American Airlines can offer UK travellers the Americas and beyond.”

For passengers beginning their journey at London Heathrow, American Airlines operates two daily non-stop flights to Los Angeles departing from Heathrow Terminal 3. At the terminal, an Admiral’s Club Lounge and a Flagship Lounge are available and a newly enhanced Arrivals Lounge will be unveiled later this summer.
