New York City tipped as best city in the USA for corporate business trips and conferences

NYC top business travel destination, say Jetabroad

New York clocked a record 50 million visitors last year, defying the economic downturn, and NYC & Company estimates the visitor numbers will continue to rise, reaching over 55 million visitors in 2015.

New York City boasted record tourist numbers last year, and leading online travel company, Jetabroad, welcomes news that New York has been named the best destination in the USA for corporate travellers. MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) travel is big business, and a recent report has chosen New York as the “ultimate US meetings destination”.

NYC & Company, the city’s official marketing body, commented that New York City is an ideal location for corporate meetings and conferences; venue availability, strong transport links, world-class networking opportunities and tourist appeal are a few reasons why New York topped the list.

The aggressive building of new hotels and venues ensures that the sector will have room to thrive in the coming years. The city currently enjoys an occupancy rate of 85 per cent, and Mayor Bloomberg has announced the addition of more rooms – this will keep prices manageable for corporate travellers as the number of visitors grows.

NYC & Company reports: “The next round of development will add over 6,600 new rooms plus hundreds of renovated rooms back into inventory bringing the total of rooms in active inventory to more than 100,000 by the end of 2014… This is an unparalleled pace of development for a major city or established destination.”

New York clocked a record 50 million visitors last year, defying the economic downturn, and NYC & Company estimates the visitor numbers will continue to rise, reaching over 55 million visitors in 2015.

Jetabroad MD Darin Walters comments: “New York has long been one of the world’s central destinations for business and leisure, and deserves its title as best business destination in the US. Growth of the hotel sector will keep business trips affordable, and we hope corporate travel to the Big Apple continues to build strong business and cultural ties between the US and Australia.”
