The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) will welcome American Cruise Lines as its newest member effective March 15, said Terry L. Dale, president and CEO of CLIA. American Cruise Lines (ACL) will bring to 20 the number of CLIA-member cruise lines, which collectively represent 97 percent of the cruise capacity marketed in North America.

CLIA is also comprised of nearly 17,000 travel agencies, making it the largest travel industry association based on agency membership. ACL ships sail with no more than 100 passengers along the smooth, inland waterways of the United States, on nine itineraries between Maine and Florida. To enhance each port visit, carefully selected enlighteners – naturalists, historians and other experts – are on board to offer informal lectures, lead expeditions and answer passengers` questions.

We welcome American Cruise Lines to the international CLIA fleet, said Dale, The company`s ships offer vacationers a casual and intimate onboard atmosphere, coupled with an educational adventure along the inland waters of the East Coast.

CLIA-member travel agencies are widely regarded as the consumer`s very best resource when planning a cruise vacation, said Timothy Beebe, ACL`s vice president, American Cruise Lines is pleased to be affiliated with the leisure travel industry`s gold standard association.
