Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP (PWC) recently released its Global Entertainment and Media Outlook, and once again the company forecasts that the attractions and amusement industry in the Asia Pacific region will grow at a faster rate than any other region of the world. Asia is projected to generate average annual revenue increases of 5.9 percent, for a total of 65.6 RMB billion (US$8.2 billion) in revenues by 2010. Attendance at Asia’s parks is expected to hit 278 million in 2010, growing at an annual rate of 3.5 percent.

According to PWC, China and India are emerging as major theme park locations. Improved economic conditions are allowing for more domestic travel on the consumer part, and re-investment options for theme parks— which are each vital contributors to the growth of Asia Pacific’s amusement and attractions offerings. Additionally, new parks are planned in India, South Korea and the Philippines.

To meet the demand for rides, products and services in the Asia Pacific region—and in anticipation of future growth in the Asian attractions and amusement market—IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 will be held 12—14 July 2006 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

“Asia Pacific is clearly an emerging market for the amusement and attractions industry, and we want to help fuel that growth,” said Charlie Bray, IAAPA President and CEO. “IAAPA Asian Expo is an excellent forum for buyers representing parks and attractions to find products and services to enhance their facilities.”
