The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) applauded Carnival Cruise Lines` recent decision to enhance the cruise line`s level pricing strategy, which was introduced last summer to ensure that all distribution channels have access to the same pricing from Carnival. The enhancement to Carnival`s policy, which takes effect January 1, 2005, will prohibit travel sellers from advertising non-Carnival approved rates and promotions.

By ensuring the consistency in Carnival rates advertised, Carnival is giving travel agents the opportunity to emphasize the quality of service and expertise they provide to consumers, said ASTA President and CEO Richard M. Copland, CTC. Carnival`s move will help put the focus on the value of the cruise product, rather than price alone, as deciding factors in a cruise purchase.

We commend Carnival for recognizing and encouraging agents who provide service and value to their customers, Copland added.
