The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) announced that its Best Western Model Agency Program was recently approved by the Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA) to provide 10 continuing education units (CEUs) to certified travel counselors (CTCs) and certified travel associates (CTAs) who complete the program. The program is sponsored by Best Western International. Nolan Burris of Visionistics will present the first seminar at ASTA`s Northern Regional on May 1.

ASTA is grateful to Best Western International for its tremendous support of the Model Agency Program and travel agents, said ASTA President and CEO Richard M. Copland, CTC. We believe education is crucial for maintaining a successful and profitable agency in today`s business environment. The Model Agency Program teaches agents to develop business and marketing plans, determine the most effective use of technology resources and review their long- and short-term financial goals.

Best Western International has long believed in the travel agent distribution channel, and that belief is still strong as we look into the future., said Bob Gilbert, CTC, vice president of worldwide marketing and sales for Best Western International. We are proud to sponsor the Model Agency Program as we want to deliver tangible performance tools to help travel agents excel in today`s ever-changing,ever-evolving business environment.

The Model Agency Program seminar covers the basics of running an agency business and provides travel agents with the tools to be successful in the changing marketplace. Once agents have completed the program, they will have developed their own unique business and marketing plans. The Model Agency manual is an action-oriented workbook with a wealth of exercises and hands-on tips for increasing agency profitability through careful planning and execution. The course includes information on new business models, staffing, technology, marketing and provides an easy-to-use model for financial analysis and forecasting.
