Carlson Wagonlit Travel appoints new President for EMEA and Latin America

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has named Håkan Ericson to the position of president EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Latin America. He will replace Richard Lovell, who will retire in March 2008, after 17 years with the company. Mr. Ericson will join CWT on January 28, 2008, and be based in Paris. He will report to Hubert Joly, president and chief executive officer, and be a member of the global executive team.

Mr. Ericson, age 45, has vast experience in the area of professional services and has worked on a pan-European or global level for much of his career. From 2002 until 2005, he worked for international express and logistics industry leader DHL, first as managing director for DHL Europe and then managing director for DHL Freight Europe. At DHL Freight Europe, he was also responsible for global and European operations. He subsequently joined SAS, the Scandinavian airlines, as executive vice president, heading up the business unit that included all support companies such as cargo, technical services and ground handling. In his most recent position, he was chief executive officer of Loomis AB, a global leader in cash handling services. His experience also includes executive positions in the transport sector and management consulting. Mr. Ericson is a Swedish citizen. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Stockholm.

According to Mr. Joly, “Håkan Ericson is both a strategic thinker and a great operational leader. He will bring significant international experience and an impressive track record to Carlson Wagonlit Travel. In his previous positions, he successfully drove sales and marketing initiatives, integrated acquisitions, and increased revenues and profits. His customer focus is in keeping with ours and I am confident that our clients in Europe and Latin America will benefit not only from his know-how but his sense of commitment.”

Commenting on Richard Lovell’s retirement Mr. Joly said, “Richard has made outstanding contributions to CWT since he joined the company in 1991. He has brought us to new heights in the competitive EMEA region, where CWT has been number one for several years. Our gratitude is coupled with best wishes for a well-deserved retirement.”
