GBTA announces 10th annual legislative symposium

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) – the voice of the global business travel industry – announced plans for the annual 2012 GBTA Legislative Symposium in Washington D.C., on June 18th – 20th , 2012. The GBTA Legislative Symposium offers business travel professionals the chance to network with key policy makers and shape policies that impact the travel marketplace.

The two day event is an intimate gathering of industry movers and shakers. It includes education on today’s most pressing topics, Congressional speakers, and visits with Members of Congress and staff to discuss policies that benefit business travel. Key issues for this year’s symposium include the importance of business travel to the economy and programs to expedite and increase business travel to and from the U.S.

GBTA is also pleased to announce a reception held on June 18th at 6:30 – 8:30 pm, to welcome the attendees to Washington and recognize the importance of the business travel industry. The reception’s honorary co-hosts are Reps. Sam Farr (CA-17th) and Jo Bonner (AL-1st), co-chairs of the U.S. Congressional Travel and Tourism Caucus.  All the members of the House Travel and Tourism Caucus will be invited.

“This is the 10th year GBTA has hosted the Legislative Symposium. It is a great way to bring together industry leaders and key policy makers to focus on issues that impact business travel,” said Michael W. McCormick, executive director and Chief Operating Officer, GBTA. “As the collective voice of the business travel industry, it is imperative that we inform and shape policies to ensure business travel continues to drive economic growth.”
