IAEE Board of Directors unanimously approves IAEE Mexico Chapter

With the rapid growth in Mexico, it was agreed that to further the networking and educational opportunities afforded to its members on a global scale, a Mexico chapter would be formed to provide new member benefits, leadership opportunities and direct access to multiple tools and research available only as an IAEE chapter.

DALLAS – The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) announced the formation of the IAEE Mexico Chapter. At its meeting on Thursday, 4 April 2013, the IAEE Board of Directors approved a resolution to form the chapter after a group of IAEE members in good standing petitioned IAEE in accordance to the bylaws. Article XII, Section 1 of the IAEE Bylaws details the requirements of forming a chapter, and it was determined that the requisite number of petitions to form the chapter had been received.

IAEE has had a very long and fruitful relationship with the Mexican exhibitions and events industry. With the rapid growth in Mexico, it was agreed that to further the networking and educational opportunities afforded to its members on a global scale, a Mexico chapter would be formed to provide new member benefits, leadership opportunities and direct access to multiple tools and research available only as an IAEE chapter.

IAEE Mexico Chapter Interim Chairperson and 2000 IAEE Chairman of the Board Patricia Farias Barlow, CEM said, “I am very pleased that the IAEE Board of Directors approved our petition to form the chapter. We believe that bringing IAEE programming to Mexico will be well received, and we look forward to carrying the IAEE brand throughout the country.”

To establish the IAEE Mexico Chapter based on her experience as Chairman of the IAEE Board of Directors in 2000, Farias Barlow will serve as interim chairman for several months and will then transition leadership to Chair-Elect Horacio Vazquez, President of Expo Guadalajara who will then guide the chapter activities.

The goals for the IAEE Mexico Chapter are to provide relevant and timely programming and education for exhibition organizers and suppliers throughout Mexico. Additionally, the face-to-face events that will naturally follow will create strategic networking opportunities and professional development for the chapter’s members. IAEE Mexico will serve as the primary voice of exhibitions and events industry professionals to communicate the critical issues they face.

“The board of directors is extremely supportive of this chapter, and it is our intent to support the chapter and its programming. IAEE has always been very supportive of our colleagues in Mexico, and we welcome them to the IAEE chapter network,” said IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA.
