Through the commitment to giving back to the community, the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), its chapters and staff have donated goods, food and money to a number of charitable organizations and scholarship funds across the nation.
NBTA President and CEO Suzanne Fletcher commented, “I’m very proud to be a part of such a dedicated and compassionate group of professionals. NBTA’s members and staff’s commitment to giving to those in need, particularly during the holiday season, is a true testament of their generosity. NBTA and its chapters have a long history of contributing and supporting a number of national and local charities, and I expect that commitment to continue and strengthen for years to come.”
In a Thanksgiving food drive, NBTA’s 28-member staff donated a collective 691 pounds of food to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). It was the largest donation received by the regional food bank from a company during the year. The association is also sponsoring a local family of four through the City of Alexandria’s Department of Human Services. In this effort, the staff is donating goods such as bikes, toys, books, musical instruments, clothes, winter coats and other household items to a family that might not otherwise have gifts during the holiday season.
At the NBTA 2006 International Convention & Exposition, hosted in Chicago, the association also presented a $5,200 check, a one-dollar donation on behalf of each attendee of the event, to general session speaker former President George H.W. Bush for the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund.
A number of NBTA’s 43 local chapters also hold fundraisers for charities and scholarship funds throughout the year.
