New Members join ECTAA

YUTA, the National Association of Travel Agencies of Serbia, has joined ECTAA as full member.

ECTAA is pleased that YUTA, the National Association of Travel Agencies of Serbia, has joined ECTAA as full member.

YUTA was founded in April 1954. Today the association counts some four hundred travel agencies in Serbia and Montenegro, which account for over 95% of organized domestic and foreign tourism turnover.

Said ECTAA President, Boris Zgomba: “Serbia being now an official candidate country to the EU, we hope to provide YUTA with all the necessary support for the preparation of accession to the EU and guide their Members through the maze of European legislation that directly and indirectly affect travel agents and tour operators.”

ECTAA is now representing 31 associations in 29 European countries, of which two are on their way to become EU Member States.

ECTAA is also fortunate to welcome four new Allied Members, notably the three computerised reservation systems Amadeus, Travelport and Sabre, as well as the Italian railway undertaking Trenitalia.

Computerised reservation systems prevent bias in transport service distribution in accordance with specific EU legislation and thereby support fair competition and transparent consumer choice in the transport distribution chain.

Trenitalia is a major train operator offering national rail transport in Italy and international connections to major European countries. The company operates both local (regional) and long-distance trains.

Said Mr. Zgomba: “We believe closer collaboration with our Allied Members will be instrumental to improve distribution of travel and tourism services and will bring benefits to consumers as well as our Members and Allied Members”.
