Air Arabia , UAE`s national airline and first low-cost airline of its kind in the Middle East & North Africa region, announced two key managerial appointments.

A.K. Nizar will assume the role of Air Arabia`s Commercial Manager, while Harish Kutty joins as Revenue & Pricing Manager.

`With his extensive knowledge of the aviation industry and the region, Nizar is the ideal candidate for the role of Commercial Manager. His experience and insights into the region will be crucial to enhancing the product and services offered to our customers,` stated Air Arabia`s CEO – Adel Ali.

Nizar will be responsible for raising Air Arabia`s profile within the region through an effective sales team. His responsibilities will also include increasing distribution channels, sourcing GSA offices and, in new and projected markets, educating and training on the ground Travel Agencies that will cater to Air Arabia`s customers.

A seasoned professional with a career that spans more than 20 years in the travel industry – ranging from airlines to travel agencies – Nizar has held several key managerial positions with Gulf Air and British Airways in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. His most recent position being Gulf Air Area Manager (Dubai & Northern Emirates) and British Airways Sales Manager (Dubai & Northern Emirates) previous to this. Working as District Sales Manager – Central Province, Saudi Arabia for Attar Travel in Riyadh gave Nizar an insight into the workings of a travel agency and consequently this has enabled him to work side-by-side with the regional GSA`s.

`Working with this new regional travel concept is a rewarding experience,` says Nizar. He added: `Applying the industry expertise that I have accumulated over the years to the Air Arabia business model is a challenge I am looking forward to.`

Harish Kutty is key to Air Arabia`s financial model with his input on pricing structure and revenue optimisation. Joining Air Arabia from Qatar Airways as Manager Sales Performance and prior to that from Gulf Air as Manager – Pricing and Yield in Bahrain where he provided revenue optimisation, he also hosts an array of regional experience with Gulf Air in Bahrain as Manager – Commercial Business Support and in Abu Dhabi as Sales Development Manager and British Airways as MENA Business & Distribution Executive in Bahrain and Dubai.

`Kutty has extensive regional experience with key selling, marketing and analytical skills to accompany his knowledge. He will be a great asset to the team and we are looking forward to his effective commercial skills with managing this relatively new travel concept to the travellers of this region,` added Adel Ali.

Air Arabia is a Sharjah government-owned airline which is currently flying from Sharjah to Bahrain daily, Beirut four days a week, Damascus three days a week, Kuwait three days a week, Muscat four days a week, Alexandria three days a week, Assiut three days a week, Aleppo two days a week, Doha five days a week and Colombo three days a week. Air Arabia is soon due to begin flights to Iran.

Air Arabia offers tremendous opportunities to travellers who are looking for competitive fares. It aims to make air travel more convenient and frequent, while providing the lowest fares in the market without sacrificing the standards of quality or service offered.
