The City of Long Beach, California has awarded a $3 million contract to ARINC Incorporated for a new state-of-the-art security system and enhanced security operations center at historic Long Beach Airport.

ARINC will install its new airport security management solution—the AIM® System for Airports—in the security operations center of Long Beach Airport. The new system is an enhanced version of the AIM Advanced Information Management security technology used at many of the nation’s nuclear power plants.

Modernizing the Long Beach Airport security center is a key goal of the city’s public works transportation initiative for 2005. Nine advanced security capabilities will be integrated with the central AIM system, including access control, intrusion detection, emergency telephone and notification systems, alarm and event annunciation, expanded CCTV surveillance, digital video storage, intelligent video analytics, improved gate control, and enhanced personnel badging.

We will provide the City of Long Beach with today’s most advanced airport security capability and a central management system that exceeds specifications and requirements. This deployment of AIM for Airports will be a model for the industry, stated Mike Picco, ARINC Vice President, Airport Systems Division.

A centralized, integrated security environment that meets our mission objectives today is paramount, stated Dave Sansenbach, Long Beach Airport Chief of Security. But we also look forward to a long-term solution for our command and control needs—with the AIM system enabling the Airport to stay secure and efficient well into the future.
