A new technology reducing the risk of airborne epidemics at airports will be showcased at the Middle East`s leading airport suppliers exhibition in Dubai.
Air movement technology leader FlaktWoods, which will make a debut at the Airport Build & Supply Exhibition and Conference taking place from June 2-4 at Airport Expo, said its new air supply system, Elea, helps reduce the health hazards for travellers at busy airports, where the risk of epidemics is amongst the highest.
The new system features a network of built-in filters with a capability to clean the air of all particles larger than one micron, the size of most existing viruses. A first-time exhibitor in Dubai, FlaktWoods Group which has a turnover in excess of EUR 500 million and operates in more that 30 different countries, also claims the new system is energy and cost-effective since cooling is not provided to areas higher than two metres from ground level.
Organised by event management and marketing specialists Streamline Marketing, the exhibition will present unique business opportunities for over 100 suppliers from around the world, including Siemens Airports, which will use it as a launch pad for a new high-speed diverter for increased baggage handling throughput.
Besides an increasing number of exhibitors from all over the world, civil aviation authorities from across the Middle East will also assemble in Dubai next week, said Joanne Evans, director of Streamline Marketing.
The Departments of Civil Aviation from Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Dhahran have all taken dedicated stands to promote their expansion plans at the exhibition, she said.
In addition, the DCA authorities in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Bahrain, as well as Doha International Airport, Tanzania Airports Authority, Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India, have committed to sending official delegations to the event, where visitors will include many leading UAE-based consultants and contractors.
Private meetings have been pre-arranged for each exhibitor with the relevant project manager, engineer or architect in the Dubai DCA, enabling suppliers to discuss Dubai International Airport`s US $ 4.1 billion expansion, while representatives of the DCA authorities from neighbouring countries have also been encouraged to schedule meetings with exhibitors.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai DCA, the exhibition has been commissioned by the authority in its efforts to ensure that the region`s new generation of airports are built to the most technologically advanced specifications possible.
The event will spotlight the Government of Dubai`s development plan to make Dubai International Airport one of the world`s leading aviation hubs, at a time when other major airport developments are under way in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Libya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Oman, Morocco, Ajman, Syria, Sharjah and Al Ain.
The exhibitor line-up will include suppliers of a huge range of specialised equipment and services, from escalators, elevators, and moving walkways, to security and lighting systems, telecommunications, automated baggage systems, fixtures and fittings, signage and graphics, first and business class lounges, leisure facilities, aircraft hangers and fire stations.
