SSP opens five new offerings at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2 with “The Mezz”

More details confirmed of new offer at “Ireland’s premier aviation gateway”.

SSP Group, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has celebrated the official opening of “The Mezz“, a new street food concept in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport.

The Mezz offers five new and exciting food and beverage options, including local Irish favourites and new brands developed by SSP.

Camile Thai serves ‘Good Mood Thai Food’ using fresh local ingredients and with sustainability at the core of everything it does. Menu highlights include ‘delicious, fresh Mango Rainbow’ and ‘Berry Rainbow’ granola bowls to the ‘soon to be famous’ Thai Fry breakfast in addition to Camile’s bestselling dishes such as the ‘Camile Signature Spice Bag’ and ‘Crispy Chilli Chicken’. This local favourite offers customers a taste of Thailand across all day parts.

Galway-based Handsome Burger serves what has been dubbed ‘Ireland’s best burger’. Among the favourites on the menu are a classic Handsome Burger (a hand-rolled beef patty, with sticky onions, pickled cucumber, and rocket on a Coughlan bun served with rosemary and sea salt fries), or at breakfast time, a smashed hash brown, cheese and egg muffin.

Developed by SSP especially for the airport, Erin’s Kitchen offers classic, homemade, hearty comfort food. Inspired by local recipes, the menu features slow cooked pulled ham hock with creamy mash and shredded cabbage, served alongside roasted root veg and gravy, as well as a classic Irish breakfast with black pudding, white pudding, potato and farl. Meanwhile, Ancho Hancho boasts a menu of Mexican-inspired dishes from breakfast burritos to Mexican rice bowls with pinto beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and more, along with customers’ choice of pulled beef, chicken, or roasted vegetables.

The Mezz’s four food concepts are accompanied by a bar boasting a range of international favourites and locally brewed beers as well as coffee options from specialty Irish coffee roasters, Badger & Dodo who source from a selection of 85+ curated coffees.

Digital technology has been used across The Mezz to enhance the customer experience. A 31-metre digital banner (developed with experts in the digitisation of spaces, Trison) is an eye-catching focal point in the terminal. One of the longest in Europe, the banner uses over 3.5 million pixels to deliver visually stunning, colourful displays that showcase menu items from each of the brands. Ordering is quick and easy at The Mezz, and innovative digital kiosks allow customers to order from each of the brands in one, convenient place.

Located on the second floor of T2’s airside departures area, The Mezz boasts stunning views of the wider terminal and airfield.

According to Kenny Jacobs, CEO of daa, the operator of Dublin Airport: “The new food offerings in The Mezz are already going down extremely well with the 100,000+ passengers that are flying in and out of Dublin Airport every day at the moment. The Mezz is an exciting new addition to Terminal 2 and we’ve launched, in close partnership with SSP, based on feedback from passengers and what they want to see in the terminals at Dublin Airport. These five exciting new additions give passengers an incredible amount of choice before they fly, with menus packed full of interesting food and drink options. The opening of The Mezz is the latest example of our ‘Better Dublin’ improvement plan in action, which is improving standards for passengers, including the food and drink offering in both terminals. We are delighted to work with SSP to bring The Mezz to fruition and passengers can look forward to even more exciting changes and enhancements coming soon.”

Kari Daniels, CEO SSP UK & Ireland said; “At SSP, we take great pride in meeting and exceeding our customers’ needs. These new units represent the best of Dublin, from local flavours to innovative brand favourites, providing a truly authentic F&B experience for travellers coming through the international travel hub that is Dublin Airport. The digital solutions we’ve developed for The Mezz will allow guests to easily access items across a number of excellent F&B offerings in one place, which we think will be particularly well-received by families and groups travelling together, as we’ll offer something for everyone, no matter their preference.”
