Valuair eyes Thailand as base for China, India expansion

Singapore-based Valuair said it hopes to use Thailand as a springboard to expand into China and India…

Singapore-based Valuair said it hopes to use Thailand as a springboard to expand into China and India after its inaugural flight into the Thai capital on April 23.

Over the next couple of months, we hope to be able to use Thailand as a base for future expansion of our airlines routes into China and India, executive director of Valuair Jimmy Lau was quoted saying in Bangkok.

For us Singapore is the main base but Bangkok would be the spring board for future expansions.

Valuair is waiting for approval from the authorities before launching its twice daily flights form Singapore to Bangkok on April 23.

Our pricing is going to be 15 percent higher than the average of budget airlines, he was quoted by the Business Day.

Compared to full service carriers, Valuair fares would be at least 40 to 50 percent cheaper, Lau was quoted saying.

The airline would have two pricing structures – Saver and Flexi fares.

Passengers on Saver can`t change their timings and other details while Flexi would be the flexible option.

Lau was quoted saying that Valuair hopes to be able fill 80 percent of its seating capacity of about 10,000 seats monthly, with plans to fly at least 96,000 passengers in its initial twice daily flights between the two countries.
