Rainer Aavik (Estonian Tourism Board: “Tallinn: The culinary capital of the Baltics”

Estonia -especially its capital Talliinn- has already been for years in people’s minds as the culinary capital of the Baltics.

The Michelin Guide arrived in Estonia last year, the first of the Baltic states. 31 restaurants in Estonia have earned a place in the 2022 Michelin Guide. Among those, two received a coveted Michelin Star, two received a Green Star, and five have been awarded a Bib Gourmand.

Rainer Aavik is the Director of the Estonian Tourist Board since August 2022, where he leads a team of 35 tourism professionals. From 2015 to 2020 he was the Deputy Mayor of Pärnu city being responsible for tourism, planning and development. He also has more than 15 years of experience in managing hundreds of large-scale public-sector investments all around Estonia.

Rainer has Masters’ degrees in Public Administration and Cyber Security. He has also taken part of different long-term courses in United Kingdom, India and USA.
