The global hotel collection brings together nearly 200 hotels that are demonstrating commitment to protecting people and planet. Hotels from each of Minor Hotels’ eight global brands, across 21 countries, are represented in the collection.

BANGKOK – More than 100 properties operated by Minor Hotels, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, have been included in the new GHA Green Collection, providing a new level of choice for travellers looking to travel more responsibly.

The Green Collection is a new initiative from GHA Discovery, the world’s largest alliance of independent hotel brands, and brings together nearly 200 hotels globally that are demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting people and planet.

A total of 119 properties representing each of Minor Hotels’ eight global hotel brands – Anantara, Avani, Elewana Collection, Oaks, NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow and Tivoli – across 21 countries have been included in the collection. The properties have been selected based on their commitment to sustainability, including energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing.

Each hotel in the GHA Green Collection has earned at least one globally-recognised certification, including EarthCheck, Green Growth 2050, Green Key, Green Globe or Green Seal. In addition to meeting these criteria, the hotels must also be committed to continuous improvement, have a sustainability plan in place and be working to reduce their environmental impact year-over-year.

“We are extremely proud to see so many of our hotels included in the GHA Green Collection,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International. “This is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and our efforts to lead the way in creating a more sustainable future for our industry.”

“We have been working hard across the entire Minor Hotels portfolio to support the protection of the environments and communities we call home.” said John Roberts, Group Director of Sustainability & Conservation for Minor Hotels. “Being part of the Green Collection is a recognition of those efforts, and will support the growing number of travellers globally who want to make more informed choices about where they stay.”

A total of 31 Anantara properties are included in the collection, including Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort which has developed a successful Coral Adoption Programme, and Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort in Chiang Rai, Thailand, which supports the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation to provide a home for elephants, mahouts and their families.

Avani Hotels & Resorts are constantly looking for creative uses for natural materials. At Avani+ Luang Prabang Hotel in Laos, for example, recycled tree bark is being turned into packaging for the hotel’s all-natural soaps and other toiletries.

As part of efforts by Minor Hotels to become a Net Zero Carbon organisation by 2050, it is introducing science-based targets for energy, carbon and water intensity, as well as pledging to cut organic waste to landfills in half in the next eight years. Minor Hotels has pledged to reduce the usage of single-use plastic by 75% by 2024, and every nature-based property will support long-term habitat or species conservation by 2023.

The number of Minor Hotels properties included in the Green Collection, by brand, is as follows:
