Chic new Royal William Yard Apartment joins Blue Chip Holidays

Renovated by the internationally renowned Urban Splash this stunning 4 person apartment retains many significant original features including exposed stone walls, stunning timber ceilings and immense beams.

73 Brewhouse, an impressive two bedroom duplex apartment situated within Plymouth’s architecturally significant Grade 1 listed Royal William Yard, is the latest property to join Blue Chip Holidays’ portfolio of chic high-end coastal escapes.

Renovated by the internationally renowned Urban Splash this stunning 4 person apartment retains many significant original features including exposed stone walls, stunning timber ceilings and immense beams. Available through Blue Chip Holidays three nights can be booked from £297 while a week can be booked from £419.

Inside, contemporary styling and ultra-modern materials have been used to accentuate the property and its heritage, making the most of its large floor space and fabulous views over the docks and waterfront.

Its large open-plan living area has a chic L-shaped cream sofa, two period-styled leather armchairs, a clear glass coffee table and a good size dining table. Entertainment is provided by a flatscreen TV complete with Freeview, a DVD player and Wi-fi internet access.

A large decorative mirror accentuates the size of the space, while the ground level arched window pours natural light into the room and provides impressive views out over the water.

Wooden beams crown the room while stairs lead up to a separate mezzanine living space situated in the rafters. This calm sitting space is furnished with a stylish two-seater cream sofa with sideboard and chic lighting.

The apartment sleeps up to four people in two generous and beautifully furnished bedrooms. The master bedroom, situated on the upper floor, has been stylishly finished matching pure whites with natural woods that complement the impressive beams that suspend the roof.  Natural light is cast in through the room-length skylight creating a bright and attractive space. The room’s spacious and private en-suite features a bath with shower over, wc, wash basin, heated towel rail, mirror and shaver point.

The second bedroom, positioned on the ground floor, has a stunning ‘feature’ arched window with views out over the open water. Its attractive twin beds, alongside bedside cabinets with stylish lamps, make for a cosy place to rest and sleep, while the practical needs for storage are met by an attractive chest of drawers.  The room has access to the family bathroom fitted with a bath and shower over, wash basin, wc, heated towel rail, shaver point and mirror.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s 120-seat River Cottage Canteen and Deli is nearby in the Brewhouse overlooking the Plymouth Sound. Prezzo and Seco Lounge, housed in the same development, offer a wider choice of places to eat suited to all pockets.

Nearby is a great art gallery in the Slaughterhouse, and if you want to follow the artistic trail regular passenger ferries travel to The Barbican throughout the summer months. Here, you can meander through the cobbled streets where you’ll find individual specialty shops, craft workshops and art galleries. Many local artists, whose work is displayed locally, have won global reputations, including Beryl Cook, Lee Woods, Brian Pollard and the late Robert Lenkiewicz.

A short walk away is the Cremyl ferry, which sails to Mount Edgcumbe, while the attractions of Plymouth and the Hoe are literally on the doorstep.

A wealth of heritage and history can also be discovered locally – stand where Sir Francis Drake played bowls as the Spanish Armada approached, enjoy a tour at the historic Plymouth Gin distillery, or visit the National Marine Aquarium – now the largest aquarium in Great Britain with the deepest tank in Europe.

Why not visit the Scott Memorial? Last year marked 100 years after Captain Robert Falcon Scott, (a son of Plymouth) reached the South Pole on January 17, 1912 – only to find Roald Amundsen`s Norwegians had preceded them. The memorial of the Antarctic explorer stands on Mount Wise Redoubt, high above Plymouth Sound, commemorated in bronze with a winged angel at his shoulder, looking appropriately due south.
