Choice Hotels franchises eight hotels in the region, with three additional hotels scheduled to open in the near future.
ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND – Choice Hotels International‘s small Caribbean portfolio of eight hotels is scoring big grades for quality performance, according to the Maryland-based lodging company.
The first annual Choice Hotels Caribbean Star Awards, presented to a selection of the region’s hotels at the annual Caribbean meeting this summer, saw top honors going to properties in five categories.
The newly renovated Comfort Suites Paradise Island in the Bahamas captured the highest TripAdvisor ranking; Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman, also following a massive refresh, received the highest score for the likelihood to recommend to future guests, while Le Consulat, an Ascend Hotel Collection member in Puerto Rico, received the most improved distinction in the recommendation category.
The highest enrollments in the signature Choice Privileges rewards program went to the family-run Comfort Inn and Suites in Levittown, Puerto Rico; while Quality Inn El Tuque in Ponce, Puerto Rico received the highest percentage of recommendations from Choice Privileges members.
Bill Clegg, Regional Vice President, Brand Performance and Programs for Choice Hotels International, presented the Caribbean Star Awards of Excellence, and promised a second installation in 2014.
“We are very proud of our Caribbean hotels,” said Clegg, who noted that many more travelers were discovering the quality service and experiences available throughout the Caribbean region each year.
“These awards reflect the commitment to guest satisfaction among our eight Caribbean hotels,” Clegg said, “and we are pleased to be able to acknowledge the individuals at each hotel who work diligently to ensure memorable visits by their guests.”

He said the Caribbean Star Awards results represented some of the highest throughout Choice Hotels International’s network of hotels in the United States and more than 30 other countries and territories.
