Danish hotel chain expands: New hotel in Spain

Rene Lyster.

Zleep Hotels’ new Sales Manager occupies the position with a great deal of courage and willpower.

Zleep Hotels is now set to make its debut in Southern Europe. The chain's German co-owner, Deutsche Hospitality, has just announced that they are opening the first Zleep hotel on Spanish soil. The hotel will be an airport hotel with address in Madrid. The Zleep Hotel Madrid Airport opens in 2021 close to the capital’s international airport and the Principe Felipe Congress Centre. The hotel will feature 280 rooms.

"The Zleep Hotels brand has grown since its inception in 2003 with a young and dedicated team to become a well-known, successful hotel brand in Scandinavia," explains Peter Haaber, founder and CEO of the brand, adding, “We are looking forward to opening our first hotel in Spain and to launching into a new market.”

When Deutsche Hospitality acquired Zleep Hotels at the start of 2019, it bolstered its competitive position and added an economy segment brand to the group’s portfolio at the same time. Twelve hotels in Denmark and Sweden are currently part of the Zleep Hotels portfolio, further hotels are at the planning stage.

"For Deutsche Hospitality, Spain is a highly attractive market," says Thomas Willms, CEO, Deutsche Hospitality, "We see further potential here not only for our resort hotels, but especially for hotels in the business and economy sectors. With Zleep we have the ideal entry-level product into our brand world, offering quality, service and design at an affordable price."

"With the Zleep Hotel in Madrid, we offer price-conscious holidaymakers and business travelers who value design, quality and sustainability an exciting hotel offer in the Spanish capital. We are convinced that the Zleep community will find many new fans," says Robert Boller, Managing Director Zleep Hotel GmbH.

All the signs indicate that there is more growth to come. Deutsche Hospitality currently has plans in the pipeline to open 30 further hotels under its various brands both in Germany and abroad.

Zleep Hotels expands their sales department – yet again. Zleep Hotels wraps up the year with another expansion in the hotel chain's increasingly extensive sales department. Two new hotel openings are at hand, including the hotel chain's largest hotel to date, with 211 rooms and therefore, more sales experts are needed. The new man on the team is Rene Lyster.

It is all about creating unique experiences
Zleep Hotels' new Sales Manager occupies the position with a great deal of courage and willpower. Courage to seek new challenges and willingness to sell and create unique customer experiences. Rene Lyster has experience in both relationship-building sales and sales training from his previous position as Retail Process & Project Coordinator at the Danish mobile operator 3: “It's exciting to be part of Zleep Hotels and the chain's team of dedicated and service-minded employees. I am passionate about creating unique experiences for my customers, and with Zleep’s range of hotels this should be easy. I'm looking forward to testing my skills in a whole new industry, and I can already feel that the hotel industry and I are a really good match,” says the new Sales Manager at Zleep Hotels Rene Lyster.

Rene Lyster took up the position on December 1st, 2019.

According to the hotel chain's Director of Sales, Lisbeth Simonsen, this year's many recruitments have already borne fruit: “We have more than doubled the number of employees in the department this year and insourced the Swedish sales department as well, and this is working for us. The forces we have gained are indispensable and all Sales Managers are doing their absolute best to pave the way for Zleep in Denmark as well as in the rest of the Nordic countries. I am sure that Rene will be very successful in Zleep, and I look forward to opening more hotels in the year to come with Rene as part of the team,” says Lisbeth Simonsen, Director of Sales.

Two Zleep hotels are due to open in 2020. On April 1st, Zleep Hotel Copenhagen Arena will open in Orestad on Amager in Copenhagen. The hotel will get 211 rooms and an attractive location near Royal Arena, Fields and Orestad Metro. On July 1st, Zleep Hotel Lyngby opens with 112 rooms along the Helsingor highway close to the Technical University of Denmark. 34 of the 112 rooms are being built and decorated as long stay rooms. The rooms will be 50 percent larger than a regular room and will also have private kitchens.
