Elma Arts Complex, Israel’s only Design Hotels member, appoints new CEO

New CEO, Shimon Kipnis, was previously the CEO of Sheraton and Accor Hotel networks.

ZICHRONn YA'ACOV – Elma Arts Complex & Luxury Hotel, a 95-room luxury spa resort at the southern tip of Israel's Carmel Mountain Range, and the only hotel in Israel belonging to the esteemed Design Hotels Group, has named Shimon Kipnis their new director general.

Shimon Kipnis, 53, joins Elma three years after the Arts Complex was established and gained notoriety as one of the most innovative hospitality concepts in Israel and around the world. As part of his new role, Kipnis' goal is clear: to better leverage Elma's rich content to create a unique hotel experience for both locals and internationals.

"The role is fascinating and presents me with many challenges, the first of which is to convey Elma's unique identity as a home for art, creation, content and hospitality, " says new CEO, Shimon Kipnis. "Very few places in the world provide such a rich and unique experience."

Kipnis is a veteran hotelier with extensive hospitality experience.  He has served as a CEO for the Sheraton chain and the Accor Network, and was one of the founders of the Scottish Hotel, which he managed throughout its first seven years. Kipnis is considered a pioneer in the art of merging hotel hospitality with content and culinary offerings – a concept that's since been adopted by many hotels.

The Elma Hotel has no shortage of accolades. It is the only hotel in Israel that is part of the Design Hotels luxury hotel group, and is one of only three members of the Starwood Loyalty Program, alongside Ritz Carlton Herzliya, Sheraton Tel Aviv and W Hotel in Jaffa. Elma is a one-of-a-kind complex that offers guests an international art center alongside a luxurious hospitality experience in the 95 room hotel. It took eight years of planning and preservation to open Elma, which sits on the Carmel ridge and covers 113 acres of open space and natural groves, with a break taking view of the Mediterranean Sea.
