Fairmont Pittsburgh earns AAA Four Diamond Award

Pittsburgh’s new luxury hotel, Fairmont Pittsburgh, has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award. The Fairmont Pittsburgh, which opened on March 29, 2010, is located in Three PNC Plaza, at 510 Market Street.

“We are pleased to honor Fairmont Pittsburgh with their first AAA Four Diamond Award,” said Jim Lehman, Executive Vice President, AAA East Central. “Fairmont joins an exclusive group of AAA Four Diamond Award recipients that are known to offer a high level of hospitality in appealing surroundings,” he added.

Fairmont Pittsburgh’s design inspiration is a melding of “art and industry moments,” incorporating locally-inspired touches throughout the hotel’s 185 guest rooms, restaurant and bar, and public spaces. Although a new hotel, the Fairmont has already made its mark nationally by achieving a Gold level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

“We are thrilled to be recognized by AAA with a Four Diamond distinction for luxury and exceptional service to Pittsburgh, and pleased that the community has already begun recognizing it as the newest luxury brand to the city,” said Len Czarnecki, General Manager for Fairmont Pittsburgh.

In addition to luxurious guest rooms, the hotel boasts 12,000 square feet of meeting space and a 6,000-square-foot health club. The main ballroom offers a flexible pre-function area, can accommodate 550 for table seating or 1,000 for a reception, and may be divided into two parts for smaller events.

Fairmont Pittsburgh dining venues include Andys Bar and Habitat Restaurant. Andys celebrates two of Pittsburgh’s most famous Andrews: Carnegie and Warhol, and the art and industry that define Pittsburgh’s history.

Fairmont Pittsburgh joins a select group of AAA Four Diamond winners. Just 3.5 percent of the more than 58,000 AAA Rated lodgings and restaurants were awarded the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award designation for 2010. Only 14 lodging establishments in Pennsylvania received the award.

The Diamond ratings are included in each lodging and restaurant listing in the 2011 AAA TourBook® guide and on AAA’s website, AAA.com. AAA’s 50 million members depend on TourBook guides to assist them with their travel-related decisions. An establishment’s Diamond rating is often the deciding factor when a member chooses a restaurant or hotel.

Fairmont Pittsburgh features 185 guest rooms, 12,000 square feet of meeting space and a 6,000 square foot health club. The Fairmont is housed in Three PNC Plaza, the largest high rise to be built in the City of Pittsburgh in the last 20 years, and one of the largest mixed use buildings to be certified by the U.S. Green Building Council in accordance with its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) rating system. Fairmont Pittsburgh was recently awarded the LEED® certification at the Gold level which complements Fairmont’s philosophy of operational sustainability and responsible tourism.
