Norwegian reports a 21 percent passenger growth in October

Norwegian continues to experience a considerable passenger growth in October. Close to 1.3 million passengers flew with the airline in October, a 21 percent increase compared to the same month last year. The company’s overall punctuality has improved considerably.

1,268,941 passengers flew with Norwegian in October, an increase of 219,738 passengers compared to October 2009.

”We are very satisfied with yet another month with strong passenger growth. We manage to increase the load factor, despite larger aircraft and 1,700 more departures than the same month previous years,” said CEO Bjorn Kjos of Norwegian.

”We work incredibly hard to improve our product to increase customer satisfaction. One example is the company’s punctuality, which, by consistent hard work, has improved significantly. Another example is the new Sky Interior that will be delivered on all of our new aircraft starting in December. Our passengers will get an improved in-flight experience with Norwegian, said Kjos.

Norwegian is one of the airlines that have the lowest cancellation rate. In October, Norwegian’s regularity was 99.6 percent and the Groups’ total punctuality was 88.3 percent. The overall punctuality was strongly affected by the strikes in France, delaying a majority of the returning flights to Scandinavia. The load factor for October was 79 percent, one percentage point higher than the same month previous year.

New interior
In December the company will receive its first Boeing 737-800 with the new Boeing Sky Interior. Norwegian is one of the first airlines in the world with the new interior, based on Boeing’s Dreamliner. The new cabin will give the passengers a new in-flight experience that will enhance comfort considerably, featuring new lighting and larger overhead stowage bins. The new interior will also help reduce the noise level.Norwegian has ordered at total of 59 aircraft with the new interior.
