GHM Development of The Chedi Andermatt begins in Swiss Alps

Asia-based luxury hotel and resort operator GHM is pledging the “ultimate in bespoke luxury” in the picture postcard surroundings of the Swiss Alps with its latest development, The Chedi Andermatt.

In the small town of Andermatt at the crossroads between southern, northern and eastern Switzerland, the year-round holiday destination is blessed with stunning natural scenery and an abundance of outdoor recreational pursuits.

A groundbreaking on 31 August 2010 marked the beginning of construction on GHM’s first property in Switzerland, with opening scheduled for 2013. The luxury resort is being designed to set a new benchmark in Swiss hospitality and design with outstanding personalized service for the most discerning of guests.

The Chedi Andermatt will feature 50 hotel guest rooms, 64 apartments and six maisonette penthouses, all featuring large balconies and fireplaces.

Another 48 exclusive residences of one and two-bedroom apartments and lofts with their own private Club Lounge and Library will be available for purchase.

The development will include two gourmet restaurants, a luxurious lounge, a wine and cigar room, and an apres ski bar. There will also be an exclusive spa and state-of-the-art wellness centre.

From skiing in winter to golfing in the summer, the hotel’s services and facilities and its spectacular surroundings will offer guests and apartment owners with unrivalled experiences.

With access to a vast skiing area, additional facilities include a large indoor pool linked to an outdoor pool with sun terraces, a courtyard featuring a reflective pond which will be converted to an ice rink in the winter, a Ski Lounge for purchase or rental of ski equipment, and a boutique.

In winter, the nearby Gemsstock is a dream for skiers at almost 3,000 metres above sea level. Andermatt’s ski area is being linked to neighbouring Sedrun, which will create a total of 130 kilometers of piste.

In summer the region is perfect for hiking, climbing and mountain biking. Other attractions include horse riding, fishing, tennis and hand-gliding. A dozen golf courses are in the surrounding area, including a new ecologically developed 18-hole championship course adjoining the village.

Andermatt is four hours by road from Stuttgart or Munich, two hours from Milan and 90 minutes from Zurich.
