As Intercontinental Abu Dhabi celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, 2005 marks another mile stone in the hotel`s vibrant and prestigious history.

From the end of September this year the hotel will see a complete renovation that will transform many public areas and rooms. There have been many renovations that have taken place in the rooms every 6 years leading up the GCC summits, but now we will see a more exciting transformation to meet the needs of the modern day traveller. This multi million Dirham project has been initiated by our visionary owning company National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels, who are working closely with both the hotel`s management team and InterContinental Hotels Group Divisional Head office for Middle East and Africa in Dubai to ensure that set standards are maintained to meet clients expectations.

The course of work will take a mere 16 months to complete. Not only will the guests staying at the hotel see comfortable and modern rooms, they will also see additional restaurants added to the existing portfolio of award winning dining choices, 7 state of the art meeting rooms and a brand new and enlarged Club InterContinental lounge with its new and stunning location.

InterContinental Abu Dhabi will ensure that whether all its in-house guests or visitors during this period will not experience any discomfort. Both NCT&H and the hotel management team have planned out a stringent phase process that will see the rooms` renovation being completed and opened for sale floor by floor. Starting from the upper levels and moving down as the new rooms start to come on line from the end of February 2006 and always having 2 floor buffer zones down and 1 floor buffer zone up to filter any potential discomfort that may arise from any work. The lobby will also go through a similar process where by the project will run from approximately November 2005 till 2006 and opening new areas in stages. This part of the project will encompass the renovation of the shopping arcade, tea garden and the Auditorium. InterContinental Abu Dhabi being the only other hotel to have a separate VIP entrance will be putting this to full use by creating a temporary lobby for all guests with direct access to guest elevators and transport everyone with ease and efficiency.

The hotel endeavours to keep everyone up dated with the progress of work from now till the completion and launch of this exciting project. As we strive to hold our poll position as the leading Business, Leisure and Government hotel in Abu Dhabi.
