JOI-Design announced as Patron of TopHotelProjects World Tour

The tour kicks-off in London on Wednesday, 20 July, 2016, at the Hilton London Bankside.

LONDON – Leading international interior architecture studio JOI-Design has been announced as the Patron of the TopHotelProjects World Tour, a new series of networking events taking place in some of the hospitality industry’s most influential cities: London, Miami, Dubai, Singapore, New York and Berlin. Tailored specifically to the issues and trends shaping each locale along the circuit, thought-provoking presentations and debates from respected movers and shakers will examine the synergy between global and regional marketplaces. A small, high quality mix balanced between investors and owners; architects and designers; hotel suppliers; hoteliers and operators; and media will be present to ensure a wide range of perspectives and opportunities for forming valuable connections.

“We are honoured to be ‘design ambassadors’ of the TopHotelProjects World Tour”, Peter Joehnk and Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk, co-managing directors of JOI-Design, confirm, “and look forward to connecting with the pulse of hospitality communities around the globe by sharing ideas, meeting creative trendsetters and gaining fresh insights into what is next for our industry.”

The tour kicks-off in London on Wednesday, 20 July, 2016, at the Hilton London Bankside. Peter and Corinna will be moderating the ‘Creative Spark’ showcase and competition featuring three innovative hotel projects currently under construction. During the afternoon, the creators of these future hotspots will present their design concepts, followed by a voting session in which the audience will assign points to each project according to key criteria. The overall winner will be announced just before the cocktail reception that wraps-up the day.

Conrad Smith, managing director of ReardonSmith Architects, and Ed Freeman, principal partner of ReardonSmith Landscape, will present the first project: the renovation and expansion of one of Ireland’s best-known golf resorts, Adare Manor in Limerick. Representing the first major works on the estate for over 25 years, the scheme has been granted planning consent by the City and County Council and was developed by ReardonSmith in collaboration with local architect, Michael Healy, and interior design practice, Richmond International. The works will encompass a new guestroom wing, banqueting and a world class spa as well as the restoration of the heritage parts, the transformation of the golf clubhouse and significant enhancements to the 840 acres of gardens and parkland.

The second presentation will be from Maria Vafiadis, managing director of MKV Design, who will reveal her interior architecture studio’s exquisite renovation of the Sheraton Park Lane. The team has breathed new glamour into the hotel by drawing on the Art Deco inheritance of the building and combining this with Sheraton’s inclusive brand values to create interiors that are unique amongst London’s elite hotels. Existing public areas have been sensitively upgraded, including a redesigned reception lobby and a new bar at street level with an outdoor terrace, whilst all guestrooms have been totally refurbished. This summer, a new restaurant and executive lounge as well as a restored Palm Court will complete the project so that the Sheraton Park Lane will emerge as a business and leisure hotel beyond expectations.

Rounding off the presentations will be Harry Harris, managing director of creative real estate consultancy SUSD, who will discuss the Devonshire Club. A new private members club in the City of London, the full-service luxury lifestyle venue will include a club lounge, bars, a brasserie garden room, a winter garden, dining rooms, a library / screening room, members rooms, gym and spa facilities, and overnight hotel accommodation. Developed in partnership with Brian Clivaz, founder of Home House club on Portman Square and chief executive of the Dover Street Arts Club, the destination is due to open this summer.

Additional speakers at the London event will include Rolf W. Schmidt, founder of TopHotelProjects; James Chappell, global business director of Horwath HTL; Nir Gilad, creative director at Nous Design; Charles Leon, director at Leon Black; Ilker Hussein, commercial director at Laufen Bathrooms; Iain Ainsworth, founder of White Line Hotels; and Daniel Englender, managing director at Benjamin West.

The world tour will make its way to a variety of locations throughout 2016: Miami, 25th August; Dubai, 20th September; Singapore, 18th October; New York, 15th November; Berlin, 1st December.
